Tiffany & Co. Launches New Diamond Watches Inspired by Its Iconic 1950s Rope Motif

Fresh off the release of its Jean Schlumberger-inspired Blue Book high jewelry collection, Tiffany & Co. is once again diving into the legendary designer’s archives.

Jean Schlumberger, the late French visionary behind some of Tiffany’s most iconic mid-century designs, continues to inspire the house—especially since its 2019 acquisition by LVMH. The latest revival centers around Schlumberger’s elegant rope motif, first introduced in 1956. This time, it reappears in the form of dazzling diamond watches.

Classic Design Meets Modern Craftsmanship

The updated timepieces feature a stunning case and dial framed by two twisted gold rope rings, giving them a bold yet timeless appeal. Sandwiched between these golden loops is aglimmering ring of diamonds, adding just the right amount of sparkle.

The watches come in two sizes—27 mm and 33 mm—both crafted in luxurious 18-karat yellow gold. Buyers can choose between a mother-of-pearl or glossy black dial.

The smaller model sparkles with 38 diamonds totaling approximately 0.52 carats, while the larger one boasts 39 diamonds totaling 0.9 carats. A delightful touch of Schlumberger’s whimsy appears in the minute hand, which is also styled in the rope motif.

Tiffany’s First Solar Movement Adds a Sustainable Twist

What truly sets this collection apart is its innovative movement. For the first time, Tiffany & Co. has incorporated a solar-powered mechanism, giving the watches a modern, eco-conscious edge.

Fully charged, the movement offers an eight-month power reserve, and it only takes two minutes of sunlight to begin charging. Even on overcast days, the timepiece can draw enough light to stay powered.

The movement was developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret, a renowned Swiss watchmaker that has partnered with other LVMH brands and luxury names like Hermès.

With this new launch, Tiffany & Co. beautifully bridges heritage and innovation. By blending Jean Schlumberger’s historic artistry with forward-thinking technology, the brand continues to celebrate a legacy that shines as brightly today as it did in the 1950s—now, quite literally, powered by the sun.
